Drama Camp 2020

Planning is under way for the 2020 season of Pinewood Players Drama Camp. We have chosen for this year’s performance, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” The storyline follows the classic biblical tale of Joseph and his coat of many colors set to the spellbinding music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Narrator guides the audience through the musical journey that follows Joseph from innocent young dreamer to slave, prisoner, dream interpreter and finally to Egyptian nobleman who saves the country from famine and becomes right hand man to the Pharaoh, whose character is more than vaguely reminiscent of another popular “king” (of rock & roll…thank ya, thank ya vera much). In the end, Joseph tests the honesty of his brothers, teaches them a valuable lesson, forgives them for their wrongdoing and the entire family is happily reunited at last in a grand finale. The music is classic Andrew Lloyd Webber, the lyrics by Tim Rice are both amusing and haunting, the choreography is lively and there are plenty of fun parts for the kids to enjoy.

This is a very special year for the Pinewood Players as we celebrate our 30th year anniversary and the 19th consecutive year of our youth drama camp. We are so happy to have an award winning director, Dale Nakagawa return this year and looking forward to having a professional music director, Sandra Dyke with us for the first time. We have organized an outstanding group of producers, teachers and volunteers to guide our campers through this wonderful production.

Camp runs from June 22nd through July 12th with productions on July 10th at 7:00 PM and July 11th and 12th at 2:30 PM. Campers will be at the theater from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. We will ask the campers to bring a sack lunch. They will stay on campus.
