Bells Are Ringing
Directed by: Lynn Rouyer
A Broadway musical from the 1950’s and a movie starring Dean Martin and Judy Holliday in 1960 was a huge success with songs like: “Just in Time”, “The Party’s Over”, and “Long Before I Knew You”.
Ella Peterson is a Brooklyn telephone answering service operator who tries to improve the lives of her clients by passing along bits of information she hears from her other clients. She falls in love with one of her clients, playwright Jeff Moss, and is determined to meet him. The trouble is, on the phone to him, she always pretends to be an older woman whom he calls “Mom”. The sub-plot is the police get involved when a bookie for the horse races wants to use the answering service for placing bets and passes himself off as Titanic Records Company – Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony – Belmonts 6th Race, etc.
This play is a very funny musical with a cast of 35. You won’t want to miss it!
