Theater in the Pines

Thank You

Thank You for an Incredible 30th Anniversary Season

The 2021 season of Theater in the Pines celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pinewood Players and commemorating 20 years of the Youth Drama Camp has come to a close. The annual It’s a Wrap Party held on August 26 signaled the end of another successful season.

This year’s events were jam packed into a summer season that seems to get shorter every year. The It’s a Mystery event kicked off the celebratory year in early June, followed by our Christmas in June presentation of Dashing Through the Snow which played for 6 performances to very enthusiastic audiences. Later in the month the 20th annual 3 week Youth Drama Camp got underway with 30 incredible kids who learned 13 songs and dance routines and entertained us by performing the most memorable drama camp production in the 20 year history of the camp. The original musical revue Cheers to 20 Years commemorated the anniversary with 4 successful performances in mid-July. The month of June also saw our 30th Anniversary Ice Cream Social event and the community joined us at the Pinewood Playhouse to celebrate the anniversary with ice cream and theater tours, a great way to introduce Munds Park residents to our theater and all its amenities.  The annual June Members Meeting provided the venue to recognize our three 2020 and 2021 Scholarship recipients. In July the traditional Reader’s Theater Cabaret Nights production ran for two nights to the delight of our audiences as well as the actors themselves who always enjoy this event as much as the audience. Unfortunately, an outbreak of Covid in the community prevented us from going forward with the Reader’s Theater Mainstage with a Twist production scheduled for August, but no worries, we already have this very unique event on the calendar for next season.  In late August the second General Members Meeting of the season was held which hosted the annual Board of Directors election in which 3 new directors were installed on the Board. The 30th anniversary season closed with a fantastic It’s a Wrap Party with the theme of Wrap Up with a Round Up, a real western style shindig with great food, music and dancing enjoyed by all in attendance.

Pinewood Players thanks the community for their generous support of the organization and events this season. For over 30 years Munds Park has enjoyed live theater and other events sponsored by Pinewood Players, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing cultural opportunities for the entire community. Each season the group presents live theater productions and supports the community in many other ways including producing a youth drama camp for the youngsters and providing scholarships for higher education to deserving students with connections to Munds Park.

Membership in the organization is open to the public and we welcome everyone to join, participate, learn about the performing arts and enjoy the comradery of the “troupe.” You do not have to act, direct or work backstage to participate in Pinewood Players. There are many volunteer non-acting functions such as ticket sales, ushering, set building, painting and decorating, helping to organize social events and other activities in which one can participate. But you are not required to actively participate in order to be a member. You can join just to support the organization. Your membership dues of $10 for single, $18 for family go toward offsetting the fixed costs of operating and maintaining the theater and your donations are 100% tax deductible. You do not have to be a member of Pinewood Players to attend the performances. But no matter how you may choose to support the organization; acting, directing, backstage or technical crews, volunteering for non-acting jobs or just attending the plays, we believe you will enjoy the experience and the more you participate, the more rewarding the experience will become.

Membership forms can be downloaded from the web site at www.pinewoodplayers.com  and 2022 membership enrollment is open now. We encourage the community to join and support the Munds Park tradition of Pinewood Players which has entertained the community for over 30 years. Pinewood Players wishes everyone a safe and healthy off-season. We have a fantastic lineup of events scheduled for next summer and we will look forward to seeing you all at the Pinewood Playhouse for the 2022 season of Theater in the Pines.
